films with ze bestest car sequences (in no particular order)
so, @bentoboxx asked, and i’m happy to share my faves:
- vanishing point (duh)
- bullitt (double duh)
- gone in sixty seconds (not the poxy shite remake version with “nic” cage and angelina)
- two lane blacktop (triple duh)
- le mans (more of mcqueen driving himself)
- ronin (has some fantastic car chase sequences, but i dont like the movie that much)
- the gumball rally (the original 1976 one, is brilliant but has an amazing highspeed manhattan driving sequence at the beginning, and a similarly amazing highspeed los angeles river driving sequence at the end)
- white lightning (see burt reynolds before he became a cheesy parody of himself, and some decent car chase stuff)
- dirty mary crazy larry (pretty awesome movie in general, peter fonda, etc)
i’m sure i’m forgetting some. as a final bonus, and this isn’t a “movie” per se, but if you want to see some of the FINEST DRIVING you could ever see, watch Ari Vatanen take on the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb. un-fucking-believable. none of this pansy NASCAR-drive-around-in-slightly-boring-ovals-crapola. also, the original The Italian Job is a classic fave. :)
P.S. that I have not mentioned a “Fast & the Furious” movie is a feature, not a bug.
